Publix.
Well I kind of went over my budget this week so I am going to have to really be good the next couple weeks. (it would be nice if there were no HUGE deals!!! ha ha) I honestly paid too much for some things because I was desperate even though I didn't have coupons... I gotta be better about that)

PhotobucketWell this week went pretty well. Had a cashier that was a little uncooperative (a first for my Publix) She laid out all of my coupons and then as she scanned each item she READ and scanned the coupon to go with it.. Publix Quick Trip

So I found some coupons and decided to make one last quick trip to Publix before the ad reset to the new one.

Photobucket
I got 20 jars of baby food (Bogo .53 and I had $2 off coupon)
6 bags of trail mix ($1 and had 6 $1 off coupons)
1 gallon of milk ($2.69 full price)
Would have spent: $25.07 Total OOP: $7.07!!

I know I probably could get milk cheaper somewhere else but I have become so loyal to Publix that if I am only going to save .30 to drive to Kroger and put up with them it isn't worth it. I would rather just buy it for a tiny bit more at my favorite store on earth!! :) Big shopping trip tomorrow.

Rite Aid and Nashville... Amazing place, amazing people

If you live near Nashville you know this, but when you drive around there are places here that look like COMPLETE war zones. I drove by a street today that every house was covered in the brown post flood gook.. and they were all throwing their belongings out in their front yard to be thrown away. It is so sad and horrible to see people losing everything they have.. so I wanted to help in any way I could. Since I am pretty good at couponing I decided to raid my stockpile for some things and then use my precious natures bounty coupons to buy some more things since being a family of four on a school teachers salary we aren't really rolling in the dough.
So I went to Rite Aid this morning with coupons that would equal around $25 in overage so I could get stuff for the flood victims. I got enough stuff that I would still be donating about $25 extra on top of it.
When I got to the checkout the cashier (who I believe is one of the managers) asked me if I was buying stuff to help people. I told her I was and she was SO awesome! She basically cut every Rite Aid product she could down to .99!!! I bought $60 worth of stuff for flood victims plus $48 worth of vitamins (to get my overage) so without sales and coupons I would have spent $108!!
Well thanks to the wonderful cashier, my coupons and the sales they were having I paid $5.54 WITH TAX!!!! My total before tax was .92!!!! I was SO happy!!
Here is what I picked up for them:

Photobucket

Here was my breakdown:
2 Paper Towels .62 each (thanks to cashier normally $2))
1 Dawn dish soap .99 (free after coupon)
1 Box pampers wipes 2.50
2 bottles bleach .99 each (thanks to cashier normally $2.49)
1 Baby wipe 240ct refill 1.87 (thanks to cashier and clearance normally $7.49)
2 cans bug spray 3.09 (normally 6.19)
2 Bandaids boxes .99 (thanks to cashier.. normally 2.99)
2 toilet paper .99
2 Hand Sanitizer .99 (thanks to cashier normally 2.99)
2 large Suave shampoo .99 (thanks to cashier normally 2.19)
1 Disinfecting wipes 2.79
1 Motrin PM 5.49 (.50 overage with coupons from RA ad and newspaper)
8 Natures bounty vitamins (priced $5-7 but used a $5 for each)

This city is amazing and Rite Aid just made my day by helping me to be able to give a little more than I really could afford right now!! :)

Rite Aid Is Awesome

So I had this dilemma, as happens a lot around here. My youngest son is only 1 but he suffers from SEVERE constipation. so my pediatrician recommended I try Miralax. Well that stuff is anywhere from $20-25 a bottle. So I did what I always do.. went on the search for a deal.. and got some stuff for me. I figured if I could spend less than $20 and get other things with it I would be happy.. It worked out better than I hoped. I had to do two transactions.
But I ended up with $106 worth of product for $6.35!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!! (before tax of course)

Photobucket

Just a couple small trips

So I went to Target because they have this Tresseme deal where its a two pack of products for $3.99. So I handed them a Buy One, Get One Free coupon and a $2/1 coupon.
The cashier didn't want to let me use both but didn't fight me when I insisted it was okay. I really wish cashiers were trained better. Oh well I guess everywhere can't be like Publix! :)
So I got 4 products total for $2.73 with tax. not bad considering it would have been $8 plus tax!

Then we went over to Toysrus because Henry wanted a Toby train and they didn't have them at Target. Well not only did they have them but they were 50% off yesterday and today!! So we got him a Toby one and a Salty one. He was also playing with the train set they had out and one particular piece I had considered getting him but hadn't. Well it was $29.99 but we wondered if it was included in the 50% off deal even though it wasn't scanning like it was. So Daniel went up front and asked and checked out and she gave it to him 50% off! Oh yeah and signed him up for the rewards program so we got another $5 off! So we got over $60 worth of train stuff for $30! It ALWAYS pays to ask!

Oh yeah and Daniel had time to swing by Publix for me and pick up my prescription. He had with him a $10 gift card with new prescription coupon from Kmart and they took it! Woohoo!

So since this is a blog and I am allowed to rant and rave here is my crazy idea. I think there should be a couponing identification card. You should be able to give it to cashiers to prove you know what you are doing and they aren't allowed to question you. ha ha I know this would require a LOT of honesty and will NEVER happen.. but wouldn't it be nice??

Zyrtec mission #2

Okay so just as I finished up one zyrtec rebated low and behold another one pops up! YAY! ha ha

Zyrtec is $18.99 this week at Rite Aid.
There is a $4/1 Rite Aid coupon that they send to you when you sign up for allergy rewards here.
Also in the paper there have been $4/1 coupons in the 3/21 or 4/4 red plum. You can use either.
Also if you go here and watch 20 credits worth of videos you can print off $5/20 coupons. (when you print be sure to make multiple copies.) You put these on top of your coupon stack when you check out.
So basically I will pay $18.99 (plus purchase something else for $1.01. Hand over the $5/20 coupon.
Then the two $4/1 coupons and my total should be around $7 plus tax. EDIT:Did this tonight and I paid $8 something (had to get a little snack to go with my order! haha). Just found this coupon to replace the one from the red plum.. makes it two dollars cheaper.. UGH! Oh well.. still a great deal!!

If you enter your receipts online and do this transaction twice you will get a $10 gift card in the mail. If you do it three times you will get a $25 gift card.

If you are anything like me I like to get things as cheap as possible, even if I have to buy generic. So I am going to do this deal one time (so I won't qualify the gift card yet) and then the week of the 25th I will do this deal with the generic version:

Buy 2 Cetirizine (Generic Zyrtec) for $17.99 (they are buy one get on free that week)
Buy $2.01 filler item
Use $5/20 coupon
Use two $5/1 off one coupons from here.
Total will come to $5 plus tax.

Do this twice along with the one zyrtec purchase above and get $25 rebate when you enter receipts online. So basically pay less than $20 for one zyrtec and 4 bottles of generic zyrtec and get a $25 gift card in the mail in a month or two. YEAH!!

One side note: There is another allergy rebate available so you can double dip but I believe you have to buy actual zyrtec brand. $75 of it before coupons and they will send you a $20 gift card in addition to the one above. It runs through August though so I will just wait for another great zyrtec deal later in the spring.

Rough Day for Savings

Well something I am learning in my couponing is you just have those days that are just not all that successful. (It's actually just been that kind of week for me). A lot of the deals I was looking for didn't exist and then I made a huge mistake I will NEVER attempt again.

First we'll start with Rite Aid.. which as usual went well.

Photobucket
These are the only two items I got. I paid $9.49 before tax for both and now am eligible for the $25 gift card from Rite Aid since I bought all my zyrtec. See here for the details on that.
So I got
Zyrtec 18.99
Kotex 3.50
Total: $22.49
Used: $5 off $20 Video Value Rite Aid coupon
$2 Zyrtec Rite Aid coupon
$1 Kotex Rite Aid coupon
$1 Kotex coupon from internet
$4 Zyrtec coupon from 3.21.2010 SS
Total OOP: 9.49
Will be receiving my $25 gift card as well as $1 SCR for the kotex. WOOHOO

Next we'll talk Target:
Photobucket
1 pack pullups $8.99
2 Nivea Body Washes (I am addicted to this stuff) $3.49 each
2 Kandoo flushable wipes $1.65 each
1 Thomas Train Easter Pack $7.49 (50% off) don't tell Daniel, I thought it was $5!! whoops!
Used:
$1.50 Target Pullups coupon
$2 Pullups coupon from Pullups.com
$1 Kandoo coupon 4.4.2010 PG (X2)
$2 Nivea Bodywash coupon (coupons.com) (X2)
Total paid: $17.26 before tax
Total before discounts and coupons: $35.26

Now on to my Kmart CATASTROPHE. If you coupon at all you know about Kmart and how they are doubling ALL coupons up to $2 this week. I wasn't going to do it.. but got convinced by a friend who did really well... I was not so lucky.
Photobucket
I bought other things other than this.. but I will break this down for you first. Now keep in mind you are allowed to use 5 coupons per day.. I used 5, but due to another issue was flustered and didn't notice when she scanned my coupons that she skipped one!! UGH That cost me $4!!
Pullups 9.99
Clean and Clear 4.49
Tampax 4.59
Pantene Conditioner 4.49
Stayfree 3.59
Total before coupons:$27.15
TOTAL OOP: $11.56 (should have been $7.56)

The main issue was with a pair of shoes I got on sale that had a sign below them that said $6.99 and they were ringing up $12.99. So after 20 minutes of THEM figuring out their messed up signage (and my children screaming the entire time) she finally got to my coupons and apparently either dropped one or just skipped it altogether. The store was confusing, the cashier was rude NOT friendly, and their stuff is ALL overpriced. (Did I mention that I started out waiting at the only cash register open and then this other lady opens hers... doesn't say a word.. just stands there. Doesn't say.. I can take the next customer or ANYTHING!! UGH I vow to never go back.

So overall I spent total today: $28.82 (thanks to rite aid for making my zytrec free after gift card) for $84.90 in stuff. Not too bad considering I got diapers. Still not happy but I will live.

Oh well! Maybe next time I'll do better!!

Okay so I happened upon a blog that told me about disney movie rewards and I was shocked! All I had to do was enter a few codes and then a couple codes from movies I bought recently (like the Princess and the Frog one I bought today) and take a short survey I was able to order this bag for 100% free!!!

Photobucket
The website is http://www.disneymovierewards.go.com

My Target Run

So I never know what is going to happen when I use coupons at Target. Sometimes they are great and other times they nitpick. I got a little of both today.

Photobucket

Total Paid $20.19 for $56.69 worth of products! Oh and wait! Did I mention between the Curious George rebate and two others i am sending in for for the princess and the frog I get $15 back?? so really I spent $5.19 when all is said and done for all the above items! :)

A small Publix and Kroger Run

The initial point of this trip was to get more chocolate cheerios at Publix, but they were out. So here is what I got instead.

Drug Store possibilities 3/28/2010

Been searching the ads today and here are some possibilities for great deals I have come up with. (there are a ton out there but these are things I, or people I know need/want)

Rite Aid:
Rite Aid Brand Diapers $6.99
$2 SCR (single check rebate)
$4..99 a pack

Soft Scrub $2.50
BOGO Coupon
$1.25 each

Finish dish products BOGO (price varies)

$1/1 Ad perk coupon

Prevacid $25.99
$10/1 (3.28.2010 SS)

$5.99?? I know this doesn't seem possible, but I think it would work.

Dove or Degree Deod or body spray 2/$8
$2 off with in ad coupon
$1.25/1 or $3/2 coupon

Resolve 2/$5 (Yup not on sale at my riteaid either... when you research online by sure to make sure your riteaid is participating)

So I tried some of these deals.. turns out my internet research let me down a little. I am going to have to return one of the clearasils to make this a good deal at all.. but I guess I still got quite a bit for cheap.
My Deal Scenario
Buy:
2 Degree Body Sprays 2/$8

My Zyrtec Success story

So my husband's doctor informed him he needs to take zyrtec for his allergies. I freaked out when I saw the price, but found a solution.. at least for the first few months. Here is the deal I scored at RiteAid.

This deal is about to end, but just as example of how you can get ANYTHING cheap.
I bought these different weeks that is why the prices are different.

Zyrtec 45 ct 30.99
$5/25 Rite Aid coupon
$2 off ad perk coupon
$6 off manufacturers coupon from newspaper
Total: $17.99 plus tax

Zyrtec 45 ct 26.99
$5/20 Rite Aid coupon
$2 off ad perk coupon
$6 off manufacturers coupon from newspaper
Total: $13.99 plus tax

Zyrtec 30ct?? $18.99 (starting 4/4)
(plus $1.01 in filler items)
$5/20 Rite Aid Coupon
$2
off ad perk coupon
$4 off manufacturers coupon from newspaper
Total: approx $9 plus tax

TOTAL for full deal: 40.98 plus tax out of pocket
Received $25 Johnson and Johnson SCR check from Rite Aid
Will receive: $20 Rite Aid Gift Card for Allergy Rebate from Rite Aid
All I had to do for those two was input my receipts online. It was seriously that easy.
So basically... my zyrtec was FREE!!! :)

The beginning

So I am not a great writer, I am just a stay at home mom giving this whole blog thing a shot. I love to get deals and share them with friends so I figured why not try a blog? I've been back and forth about it for awhile now, and if nothing else at least I can go back and look at all the great deals I have gotten.
Here is my current shopping/couponing schedule.
On Sunday night I file my coupons and check to see what coupons actually are in my inserts. And it begins. I keep a notebook and I read through all the ads. When I see a deal or hear about one from another blog I write it down. Then Monday-Wednesday I typically make my "drug store" runs. These include RiteAid, Target, and any other miscellaneous store I see has a deal.
Then on Thursday I sit down and make out my final grocery list. I head out Friday morning to both Kroger and Publix to get as many good deals as I can. I am a BIG fan of Publix but occasionally I can get a deal or two at Kroger.
I am not a binder carrier, I have to plan out my trip 100% before I go. If I see a deal and remember coupons I have at home I typically try to make an extra trip. This rarely happens. I make my list and try to stick to it 100%. My grocery list starts off with deals. Then I make my meal plan for the week and grab any other items I may need after doing a coupon search.
My online posts may include things that I didn't get at a GREAT price, but that is because I need them. (which is the goal of the couponer.. never to NEED anything because you stocked up). Feel free to let me know of any tips or tidbits.. or if you are enjoying my blog.
I know some people out there think I am insane and wasting time and energy. I honestly see couponing as a job that helps my family. We are on a very tight budget and this makes things a little easier. It also allows us to eat brand name products and try out new products we have never heard of before.
I hope everyone finds this blog informative and possibly entertaining. :)
