Look what I got for free

Okay so I happened upon a blog that told me about disney movie rewards and I was shocked! All I had to do was enter a few codes and then a couple codes from movies I bought recently (like the Princess and the Frog one I bought today) and take a short survey I was able to order this bag for 100% free!!!

Photobucket
The website is http://www.disneymovierewards.go.com

My Target Run

So I never know what is going to happen when I use coupons at Target. Sometimes they are great and other times they nitpick. I got a little of both today.

Photobucket
So I got
Curious George 2 DVD $6.99 (in package is a $5 rebate for grocery card)
The Princess and the Frog $13.99 ($5 DVD printable)
Kelloggs Fruit Snacks (printable)
Bandaids Regular $1.77 ($1 target printable)
Bandaids Cars $1.87 ($1 target printable)
Cheddar Whales
Beach Towel $2.50 ($2 off Target coupon)
Monopoly Deal $5.24($5 off coupon)
3 Oreida potatoes ($1/1 3.21.2010 SS X3)

Total Paid $20.19 for $56.69 worth of products! Oh and wait! Did I mention between the Curious George rebate and two others i am sending in for for the princess and the frog I get $15 back?? so really I spent $5.19 when all is said and done for all the above items! :)

A small Publix and Kroger Run

The initial point of this trip was to get more chocolate cheerios at Publix, but they were out. So here is what I got instead.
Photobucket

Ignore the vitamins in the background. ha ha
This was Publix. I really just wanted to get cheerios but as long as I was there...
2 Success Rice $1.39 each ($1/2 3.21.2010 RP)
2 Mahatma Rice .69 each (.50/1 2.7.2010 RP)
2 Birdseye steamfresh veggies $1 each (used publix coupon for $1/2 and .50/1 3.21.2010 SS as well as a .35/1 I found as I was digging through my coupons.)

Drug Store possibilities 3/28/2010

Been searching the ads today and here are some possibilities for great deals I have come up with. (there are a ton out there but these are things I, or people I know need/want)

Rite Aid:
Rite Aid Brand Diapers $6.99
$2 SCR (single check rebate)
$4..99 a pack

Soft Scrub $2.50
BOGO Coupon
$1.25 each

Finish dish products BOGO (price varies)
.50-1.00 off coupons
$1/1 Ad perk coupon

Clearasil BOGO (price varies This was not on BOGO at my Rite Aid afterall)
$1/1 Ad perk coupon
$1.50/1 (3.14.2010 SS)

Prevacid $25.99
$10/1 (3.28.2010 SS)
$10/1 ad perk coupon
$5.99?? I know this doesn't seem possible, but I think it would work.

Dove or Degree Deod or body spray 2/$8
$2 off with in ad coupon
$1.25/1 or $3/2 coupon

Resolve 2/$5 (Yup not on sale at my riteaid either... when you research online by sure to make sure your riteaid is participating)
$1.00/1 (3.7.2010 SS)

Veet BOGO (price will vary... online price $5.99)
Use 2 $3/1 coupons

$1/1 (3.7.2010 RP)
$1.50 each

Lysol Disinfecting wipes 2/$5
$1/1 (3.14.2010 SS)
1.50 each

So I tried some of these deals.. turns out my internet research let me down a little. I am going to have to return one of the clearasils to make this a good deal at all.. but I guess I still got quite a bit for cheap.
My Deal Scenario
Buy:
2 Degree Body Sprays 2/$8
1 Resolve Spray $2.50 (turned out to be $3.79)
2 Clearasil Daily Pore Cleansing Pads (was 5.29)
2 Garnier Shampoo/Conditioner 2/$5
(Filler item to reach $20 mark)
USE:
$5/20 from ad perks

$1/1 clearasil ad perk
(2) $1/1 Garnier coupon (3.7.2010 RP)
$1/1 Garnier ad perks (no longer available)
TOTAL OOP: $9.25 including tax

I know 9.25 isn't terrible considering i got $34 worth of products, but I expected to do MUCH better!! At least I learned my lesson... CHECK the local ad BEFORE going in.. because sometimes people post things that aren't in all areas.

Here are a couple other store deals I came upon:
Coke 12 packs:
CVS: 3/$11 and get $3 ECB wyb 3
Walgreens: 5/$13 (in ad coupon)

Diapers:
CVS: Huggies Jumbos: 2/$17.98 and get $5 ECB wyb 2

If you can no longer find a coupon at the link it probably reached its print limit or was taken off.

My Zyrtec Success story

So my husband's doctor informed him he needs to take zyrtec for his allergies. I freaked out when I saw the price, but found a solution.. at least for the first few months. Here is the deal I scored at RiteAid.

This deal is about to end, but just as example of how you can get ANYTHING cheap.
I bought these different weeks that is why the prices are different.

Zyrtec 45 ct 30.99
$5/25 Rite Aid coupon
$2 off ad perk coupon
$6 off manufacturers coupon from newspaper
Total: $17.99 plus tax

Zyrtec 45 ct 26.99
$5/20 Rite Aid coupon
$2 off ad perk coupon
$6 off manufacturers coupon from newspaper
Total: $13.99 plus tax

Zyrtec 30ct?? $18.99 (starting 4/4)
(plus $1.01 in filler items)
$5/20 Rite Aid Coupon
$2
off ad perk coupon
$4 off manufacturers coupon from newspaper
Total: approx $9 plus tax

TOTAL for full deal: 40.98 plus tax out of pocket
Received $25 Johnson and Johnson SCR check from Rite Aid
Will receive: $20 Rite Aid Gift Card for Allergy Rebate from Rite Aid
All I had to do for those two was input my receipts online. It was seriously that easy.
So basically... my zyrtec was FREE!!! :)

The beginning

So I am not a great writer, I am just a stay at home mom giving this whole blog thing a shot. I love to get deals and share them with friends so I figured why not try a blog? I've been back and forth about it for awhile now, and if nothing else at least I can go back and look at all the great deals I have gotten.
Here is my current shopping/couponing schedule.
On Sunday night I file my coupons and check to see what coupons actually are in my inserts. And it begins. I keep a notebook and I read through all the ads. When I see a deal or hear about one from another blog I write it down. Then Monday-Wednesday I typically make my "drug store" runs. These include RiteAid, Target, and any other miscellaneous store I see has a deal.
Then on Thursday I sit down and make out my final grocery list. I head out Friday morning to both Kroger and Publix to get as many good deals as I can. I am a BIG fan of Publix but occasionally I can get a deal or two at Kroger.
I am not a binder carrier, I have to plan out my trip 100% before I go. If I see a deal and remember coupons I have at home I typically try to make an extra trip. This rarely happens. I make my list and try to stick to it 100%. My grocery list starts off with deals. Then I make my meal plan for the week and grab any other items I may need after doing a coupon search.
My online posts may include things that I didn't get at a GREAT price, but that is because I need them. (which is the goal of the couponer.. never to NEED anything because you stocked up). Feel free to let me know of any tips or tidbits.. or if you are enjoying my blog.
I know some people out there think I am insane and wasting time and energy. I honestly see couponing as a job that helps my family. We are on a very tight budget and this makes things a little easier. It also allows us to eat brand name products and try out new products we have never heard of before.
I hope everyone finds this blog informative and possibly entertaining. :)
